Description
If you’re looking for an adorable new Echinacea with a bushy, upright habit, and is very easy to grow, ‘Raspberry Truffle’ is sure to please. This North American native selection features a completely new and different shade of color we haven’t seen on any other coneflower until now, and it’s deliciously fragrant. Beginning in late spring and continuing to early fall, the large 4″ diameter flowers emerge with peachy pink petals surrounding a chocolate colored cone. This cone then develops into a pink pom pom with a dark raspberry-pink center. The flowers contrast beautifully with the showy dark flower stems and dark green leaves. The flowers are perched atop sturdy stems that rise well above the foliage and are excellent for cutting and use in fresh or dried flower arrangements. The butterflies and hummingbirds will thank you for planting this one. Raspberry Truffle is incredibly vigorous to 30 inches tall and 24 inches wide at maturity. It is perfect as an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or groupings where space allows. Drought, deer, heat, humidity, and poor soil tolerant…what more can we ask for!
Landscape & Garden Uses
The Raspberry Truffle Coneflower is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or in groupings or as a border in perennial gardens and sunny woodland borders. A fine addition to butterfly gardens, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens, wildflower gardens and pink theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 1.5 feet apart for groupings; 3 feet apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Raspberry Truffle Coneflower is very easy to grow. It is a highly adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil. It will grow in most any average soil that is moist to somewhat dry and well-drained. It flowers best in full sun but will also do well and bloom in part shade. We suggest a minimum of 5 hours of direct sunlight per day. Spent flowers can be removed through the long bloom season. That said, spent flowers/seed heads can be left on the plant for winter interest and to feed the birds.
